This year’s theme ‘Access to services: mental health in catastrophes and emergencies’ highlights the importance of supporting mental wellbeing in challenging times.

Even if we’re not directly affected by global events, the constant stream of distressing news can take a toll. As employers and managers, it’s vital to help employees protect their mental health and know where to turn for support.
Key reminders for you and your teams:
🧠 It’s okay to feel overwhelmed — and to ask for help.
📱 Limit doomscrolling and take breaks from difficult news.
💬 Encourage open conversations about how people are coping.
🤝 Signpost access to mental health support and resources.

Supporting Your Teams
We may not be able to change global events, but we can foster a culture of empathy and connection — helping individuals feel supported and resilient.
The Mental Health Foundation has stacks of great support material to share with your teams, including free tip sheets for advice on doomscrolling, and managing feelings of overwhelm.
